Australia's Biggest Quilting Bee
21 May, 2016 - To be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church. This year attendees will make a sewing machine mat with handy pockets or a sewing machine cover. Please register your interest with the Treasurer and secure your place with a deposit.
2 May, 2015 proved yet again to be a successful event in the Gawler Quilting Circle calendar. Together with 24 members attending the Mystery Quilt Day, donations and raffles, the day raised $800 which was donated to the Cancer Council. A special thank you to Yvonne Marrin for her thorough instructions and making the day pleasurable.
2014 was another successful year for the Mystery Quilt Day, held on 24 May. This year 28 keen sewers participated in a day filled with mystery and delicious goodies. Thank you once again to Helen Campbell for her instruction and time. This year $400 will be donated to this worthy cause.
The 13th annual national quilting event, Australia's Biggest Quilting Bee was held during May & June 2013. The event was initiated in 2001 by The Australian Council of Quilters to raise much needed funds for local Cancer Councils. It is held as part of the Australia's Biggest Morning Tea initiative.
The Gawler Quilting Circle Inc. held a Mystery Quilt Day on 18 May, 2013. The day was a great success with 23 unique quilts constructed and many delicious scones and cream eaten. Most importantly, $700 was raised through participation and trading table sales. Images of this event can be found in the photo gallery.
